Director
Lieutenant Colonel (Ret) Donald P. Lauzon, USA has joined the Board of the Council of the Great Lakes Region and will serve as the Director and main point of contact for Army Corps of Engineers matters.
Don is currently the President of Lauzon Consulting, LLC a Service Disabled Veteran Owned Business that works with large and small companies navigating the world of Federal contracting.
Don also served as the Director of Federal Programs and Associate for a large Engineering Firm as well as the Executive Vice President for a Service Disabled Veteran owned Small Business. Colonel Lauzon was the former District Engineer/Commander of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Detroit District a 500 person Engineering and Construction organization.
Don has over 28 years of successful corporate executive leadership experience in project engineering, project management, engineering analysis, and engineering operations with the USACE. As District Engineer/Commander for the USACE Detroit District, Don was responsible for executing water resource and construction projects on the Great Lakes and in the states of Indiana, Michigan, Wisconsin, and Minnesota including maintenance of 98 harbors/navigation projects and over 4,000 miles of U.S. shoreline. Additionally, Don has extensive experience in construction quality assurance, construction safety, project management, and emergency disaster response operations. He most recently served as a Deputy Task Force Engineer for Operation Katrina in New Orleans.
A native of Rhode Island, Don earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering from Rhode Island College in 1986, A Master of Science degree in Construction Management from Colorado State University in 1994, and a Master of Art degree in Military Operational Art & Science from the U.S. Air Force, Air University in 1999.He is an active member of the Society of American Military Engineers, having served as President and Vice President of local Detroit and New Jersey posts, as well as an active member of the Army Engineer Association. His military awards and citations are very impressive and include the Unit Presidential Citation, Legion of Merit, Bronze Star and many more prestigious honors and awards. Don resides in Northern Virginia with his wife and two children. In his spare time he is an avid golfer and has a 6 handicap.
