The Council of the Great Lakes Region hosted its second Great Lakes Economic Forum in Toronto, Ontario from April 24-26, 2016.

The Forum brought together hundreds of industry executives, government officials, leading academics and members of the NGO community who have a stake in growing the economy in the Great Lakes and St. Lawrence Region safely and sustainably while improving the well-being of the region’s citizens.

Keynote speakers included the Premier of Ontario, the Honourable Kathleen Wynne, the United States Ambassador to Canada, His Excellency the Honourbable Bruce Heyman, Canada’s Ambassador to the United States, His Excellency the Honourable David MacNaughton, and the United States Department Commerce Assistant Secretary for Global Markets, Arun Kumar.

Topics discussed included the future of mining in the Great Lakes region, growing a regional food economy, transforming the way we fuel freight transportation, buying businesses in foreign jurisdictions, Great Lakes infrastructure renewal, and much more.
