Quotes:
“For many decades Canada and the United States have nurtured a vision of a sustainable and resilient Great Lakes Region based on the health of an ecosystem. That approach crosses jurisdictional lines of geography and sector and demands the best efforts of citizens, business and industry and governments. And it works. Common cause has become part of our identity. I am honoured to lend my voice in support of CGLR.” – The Honourable Elizabeth Dowdeswell, former Lieutenant Governor of Ontario
“We are now halfway through the implementation of the United Nations’ 2030 Agenda, and we still need to get more than 80% of the Sustainable Development Goals back on track. This is a critical moment for action. The Great Lakes region, shared by Canada, the United States, and many Indigenous Nations, can lead the way in building a better future for all.” – The Honourable Bob Rae, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Canada to the United Nations in New York
“The Great Lakes region is a treasure shared by the United States and Canada,” said Ambassador Bruce Heyman. “With the proper stewardship, it could become the world’s first truly sustainable region. I am looking forward to working with the Honourable Elizabeth Dowdeswell, Ambassador Rae, and the whole CGLR team on this important mission.” – Ambassador Bruce Heyman, former United States Ambassador to Canada
“The Great Lakes region serves as North America’s economic engine and the guardian of the largest surface freshwater system on the planet. I am delighted to welcome these eminent individuals to our Patrons group at a time when the pressure is on to advance the policy solutions, business strategies, and investments that will ensure our economy is competitive and growing responsibly, our people are thriving, and our environment is protected for future generations” – Mark Fisher, President and CEO, CGLR.
