CGLR and WIN form a strategic partnership to advance and strengthen cross-border and cross-sector partnerships

January 22, 2019 – Windsor (ON)

The Council of the Great Lakes Region (CGLR) and the World Health Innovation Network (WIN), at the University of Windsor’s Odette School of Business form a strategic partnership to strengthen cross-border and cross-sector collaboration in Canada and the United States.

“The new alliance will engage Canadian and American health sector organizations to have critical discussions about the adoption and scaling of health policies and innovations. The cross-border dialogue will help our countries achieve value and impact in our health systems and improve healthcare outcomes for our citizens,” says Dr. Snowdon, Academic Chair of WIN. “The origins of both WIN and CGLR began in the Windsor-Detroit trade corridor where strong ties between our two nations already exist and will be further strengthened with this partnership.”

WIN and CGLR will collaborate on shared objectives to scale innovations in healthcare that address pressing challenges in health systems by leveraging the recognized expertise and extensive networks of each respective organization. This is best conveyed through the recent collaborations on the upcoming Great Lakes Economic Forum occurring in Cleveland, Ohio on May 6-8, 2019. “Together, we will mobilize industry, government, academia, and health organizations to exchange knowledge and expertise that informs key decisions about Canadian and American long-term economic and social goals,” says Mark Fisher, CEO of CGLR. “Both of our countries benefit from this strategic partnership contributing solutions to our common challenges.”

Both organizations have a shared commitment to ensure the scale of impactful policies and health innovation in both the American and Canadian healthcare systems. This collaboration will strengthen health system sustainability and economic growth in these two nations through joint events, policy papers, publications, health innovation research and education opportunities.
