The Future of the Great Lakes Series – Building the World’s Automobility Hub

The Great Lakes Region has always been a world leader in the future of the automobile. Now, the region is taking it to the next level — in automobility.

As the global transportation industry retools to electric and autonomous vehicles, automobility is the opportunity to create new software, data technology, autonomous and electric vehicles, EV battery systems and innovative approaches to 5G to change how we think about the car, truck and every other vehicle that’s part of transportation’s future.

With over 100 years in automotive innovation, a robust research and development infrastructure, and powered by one of North America’s best 5G networks,  the great lakes region is now emerging  as North America’s automobility hub.

On October 13th, this event, jointly convened by the binational Council of the Great Lakes Region (CGLR) through its Great Lakes Economic Forum and CityAge in partnership with major players in the Detroit-Windsor-Essex Region, looked at how regional and global players can be part of this automobility future, to drive job growth and make important contributions to a net zero future.

Themes:

  • Why the Detroit/Windsor cluster is the World’s Emerging Hub of New Automotive Mobility – the move to electric, autonomous, data-driven and carbon-reduced mobility
  • Creating Generational Talent – Reskilling and Training a Workforce that Adapts at the Pace of Innovation
  • Building 5G Innovation Districts, and Their Relevance to Transportation
  • Why Electrification is Catalyzing Net Zero Automobility
