The bi-national Great Lakes region, with its shared sectors, integrated supply chains, and connected transportation corridors, is the global leader in automotive innovation and defining the future of mobility, and a growing player in the clean technology revolution. As a result, the region is in a prime position to lead the transportation sector’s transition to a low or no carbon sector and economy, in part through electrification.
Transportation is one of the largest contributors of GHGs in the Great Lakes region, contributing nearly 30%. These emissions are harmful to human health and the environment, and with the transportation sector’s large global and regional footprint, it has an opportunity (and a responsibility) to implement carbon reduction and clean energy solutions, addressing the negative effects of climate change and thus providing long-term economic and environmental benefits.
This shift is already technically and economically feasible, and businesses in the Great Lakes region are using electrification to address decarbonization and meet their carbon reduction goals. In this month’s CGLR Business and Sustainability Webinar, we heard from Nate A. Baguio, Senior Vice President of Commercial Development with The Lion Electric Company who shared their take on the importance of tackling zero-carbon mobility solutions with electrification, specifically with medium/heavy duty trucks and zero-emission school buses, and how the Great Lakes region is benefiting.
Event Speaker:
Nate Baguio, Senior Vice President of Commercial Development, The LION Electric Nate has been working in the transportation industry for over 30 years. Since joining Lion in 2018, he has helped position Lion as the leader in electric school bus deployments across North America. Baguio is leading the Commercial Development team in warming markets in target states across the United States.
